Diary kept by Eliot while working as a physician's assistant and physician at the Alms House on Blackwell's Island (Oct. 10, 1880-Dec. 31, 1880 and occasional entries through Sept. 20, 1881). Writes briefly of his daily routine as a young physician, living arrangements, personal habits, medical books read, work with doctors Crooks and Howell, social life, etc. Includes six loose sheets of various inventories of his personal possessions during this time and a tintype, presumably of Eliot, affixed inside front cover.
